Amanda wanted an alarm clock so she could make sure she could wake up before Mom. That way, she could be far, far away from town when Mom finally went to wake her up for school.

She would need: her bike, a pair of new shoes, an alarm clock, some food, and a phone in case she got lost.

She knew she couldn't last in the timber that long but if she could just make it far enough south she could get a ride to Disney and start to work for them.

After a few years, she could afford to buy a farm and she promised she would never hurt any of her animals.

​

Amanda felt bad that her parent's might miss her but if Mom had that pinball machine and Dad had those clowns, they could both still smile.

​

Maybe her absence would make them fall in love again.

Amanda wanted to smile again.
